Small businesses are the backbone of Michigan’s economy, comprising 99.6% of all businesses and employing nearly half of the state’s workforce, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

In recent years, Michigan has experienced a surge in small business openings. Despite this growth, challenges remain. Access to capital, workforce shortages, and economic uncertainties continue to pose obstacles for small business owners.
