Bridging the Digital Divide for Beauty Businesses is a Michigan Women Forward six-month funding and marketing program sponsored by The Kresge Foundation.
Program Details
This free six-month business funding and marketing program led by Katrina Turnbow-Marion of Kanopi Social offers select beauty businesses the chance to learn foundational knowledge to boost their businesses’ digital profiles.
Ideal participants include beauty suite owners, salon/spa owners, licensed estheticians, manicurists, beauty professionals and barbers, and retail beauty businesses. Applicants must have been in business for 1-2 years. Businesses in the ideation stage will not be accepted.
The program starts on March 31, 2025 for an in-person orientation, then meets online weekly on Mondays from 8:30-10 am. An in-person graduation ceremony will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2025.
PLUS! Engaged cohort learning program participants will receive a free tablet during the six-month program. Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Participants will learn the following skills and tools:
- Create a business website with online infrastructure setup
- Understand the landscape of digital marketing, including set up of accounts, strategy, reporting and sales
- Learn the digital platforms needed to grow your business
- Organize your digital assets and information
- Build your team roles and responsibilities
- Get your business online with a Google Business Profile
- Discover your audience
- Define your measurement plan
- Develop your online brand story
- Refine what you are selling and how to get discovered online
- Learn the fundamentals of Wave accounting
- Develop a content marketing plan
- Manage the logistics of running your business online
- Understand analytics and develop industry reports
