Teresa A. Bingman

Teresa A. Bingman is the Founder and Managing Partner of Lansing-based Law Offices of Teresa A. Bingman and the CEO of The Bingman Group, LLC, a Lansing-based consulting firm. She is also the co-owner of The Black Success Network and Career Training Camp, along with business partners Dr. Lloyd G. Bingman and Todd (T.J.) Duckett. Bingman also assists various governmental organizations with strategic planning, goal-setting and executive coaching. 

In July 2020, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor hired Bingman as lead expert consultant to develop the plan and structure for the Mayor’s Racial Justice and Equity Alliance (MRJEA). The MRJEA was charged with developing a plan to mitigate bias in the delivery of City services and bring an end to structural racism. Bingman also assisted in assembling a team of city leaders and staff, along with community grassroots activists, leaders and influencers to develop the plan, which was approved by Mayor Schor and released to the public in August 2021. 

With 33 years of legal, policy, consulting, and regulatory experience, Bingman has navigated complex systems while consistently advocating for and providing advice to policy leaders about issues, policies, programs, and practices to ensure the inclusion of people of color and underserved populations who are often shut out by political, governance, and organizational structures. Licensed to practice law in Michigan and Oklahoma, Bingman has served in various legal and policy roles, including Assistant Attorney General and later Chief Deputy Legal Counsel and Cabinet Secretary for former Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. 

Bingman is active with the State Bar of Michigan and she’s a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Links, Incorporated, and Chums, Inc., where she has served in various local, state and national roles.

Bingman is also a former Trustee for Michigan State University College of Law and a Board Member of Michigan Women Forward. She’s a current member of the Executive Board for the University of Oklahoma National Black Alumni Society and attends Union Missionary Baptist Church in Lansing. Bingman received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 1985 and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1988.
