Kim Kersten

Kim Kersten was the Senior Vice President & Director of Business Banking – Michigan.  Her responsibilities included the oversight for all the Michigan Business Banking offices for Comerica Bank.  She managed $3.5BN in loans and deposits along with her team of 50 employees.

Kim began her career with Manufacturers Bank in 1987 as an analyst in the Controllers Department.  She entered the Credit Training Program in 1989 and became a Manager and Trainer in 1991.  At the time of the merger of Manufacturers and Comerica, Kim joined the Corporate Banking Division as a Relationship Manager in the Automotive Group. She left Comerica Bank in 1994 for approximately 3 years, when her husband received a job opportunity in Boston. She joined Fleet Bank’s Private Equity Group as a Relationship Manager (now Bank of America). Kim then returned in 1997 to Comerica Bank in Detroit as a Relationship Manager in US Banking and covered the East Coast.  

In 2000, Kim joined Middle Market as Alternate Group Manager and was there until 2011, when she joined the US Banking-Michigan team as Alternate Group Manager. In 2013, she moved to Business Banking and was promoted to a Group Manager position in 2016.  As a Group Manager, she led a team that was consistently in the top 5 in the nation in terms of loan production.  In 2018 Kim was promoted to the position of  Director of Business Banking – Michigan.

Kim graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from Albion College in 1987.  She graduated with an MBA degree from Wayne State University in 1991.

Kim serves on both the Board and Loan Committee for Michigan Women Forward.  She also serves on the Board, Executive Committee and Finance Committee of Crossroads of Michigan.  She is on the Advisory Board for Winning Futures, and mentors high school students during the school year.  In 2023 Kim chaired the United Way Campaign for Comerica Bank in Michigan.

Kim and her husband, David Lagerquist, reside in Lake Orion, Michigan. They enjoy biking, traveling and visiting their children.  Their son, Hunter, lives and works in Dallas, and their daughter, Paige, is pursuing her MSW at the University of Alaska in Anchorage.
