Build a stronger foundation for your business
100K Ideas’ Business Basics Cohort is a pilot program designed to help businesses build a strong foundation and prepare for future capital. Participants will work alongside business experts to better understand their operations, finances, and long-term business strategy. Designed for existing businesses, the cohort provides practical business training and assessments focused on helping entrepreneurs strengthen foundational business practices and prepare for future growth.
What Participants Will Learn
Through six bi-weekly interactive training sessions, participants will explore key business topics including:
- CEO Mindset: Learn how to plan strategically to support a sustainable business.
- Business Financial Health: Understand the three core financial statements, identify indicators of financial health, manage cash flow, and gain confidence making basic financial decisions.
- Marketing, Sales Pipeline & Revenue Stability: Learn how marketing, sales, and revenue work together, how to build a sales pipeline, identify the right marketing channels, and stabilize and forecast revenue.
- Operational Efficiency & Team Building Preparation: Identify operational bottlenecks, improve processes, learn when to hire or delegate, and build a simple team structure aligned with growth.
- Legal & Tax Management: Learn best practices related to compliance and tax management. This session is led by Michigan Women Forward.
- Business Loan Ready Review: Participants will submit their success map and 3–5 year strategy. Business owners interested in pursuing a small business loan will have the opportunity to work with a loan specialist to begin that process.
Participants Can Expect:
- A comprehensive business assessment to identify business gaps preventing growth and scalability
- Six bi-weekly, 90-minute business training sessions
- Practical business education focused on foundational business strategy and operations
Who Should Apply?
This program is designed for existing businesses interested in establishing foundational business practices to support future growth. To participate, businesses must:
- Be registered with the State of Michigan and actively operating
- Have a business bank account
- Be conducting transactions for goods or services
- Be able to articulate a revenue plan
- Be able to articulate the need and use for funds
