Alyssa Stewart | Woman to Watch

Alyssa Stewart currently serves as the Chief Community Impact Officer at Kalamazoo Community Foundation, which is in its 100th year of mobilizing people, resources and expertise to advance racial, social and economic justice in Kalamazoo County. In this role, Alyssa has led the expansion of KZCFs community impact priorities and provided leadership to innovative community projects, most recently efforts to expand Rx Kids to the City of Kalamazoo, which provides all pregnant residents with no-strings attached cash prescriptions.

Alyssa has 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience, which began in direct workforce development at the W.E. Upjohn Institute, providing career development services to adults receiving cash assistance from the State of Michigan. Alyssa utilized lessons learned in direct service of low income individuals to drive her subsequent work at the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region, where she championed efforts to increase community understanding of the needs of ALICE (Asset, Limited, Income Constrained and Employed) households and ultimately provided leadership of grantmaking and direct service programs across Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson and Kalamazoo counties as Executive Impact Officer.

Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Public Policy from Albion College and a Masters of Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Alyssa is a native of Kalamazoo County and currently resides there with her partner and two children.
