Michigan Women's Foundation

MWF creates and supports programs to develop leadership, foster social change and empower middle and high school girls through powerful experiences focused on barrier-free opportunities for college & career, self-esteem, financial literacy and social responsibility. More than 2,000 girls have participated.

  • University of Life- a week long on-campus adventure for middle school girls offering a focused look at high value careers, life changing leadership development, college/career exploration and guidance, enriching new friendships and mentoring. Workshop topics cover STEM careers, real life budgeting, finance, health and fitness, entrepreneurialism, career planning and more!
  • Campus Moxie – a leadership camp on a college campus for high school girls entering grades 9-12 with an inside track to excelling in college and in their careers. Participants will develop self-confidence, important leadership qualities, and explore post-secondary academic and career opportunities through interactive workshops, panels, mentoring sessions, and team building activities.
  • Young Women for Change - the first girls-as-grantmakers program in the country, YWFC allows members to impact their communities as decision-makers by directing contributions to programs that address the issues and priorities set by the young women. In the 15 years since it started, more than 500 girls have developed leadership skills, learned about philanthropy and were a part of creating change by awarding grants to local events and causes.
  • Life Unplugged – young ladies are transformed into 25-year old adults, getting a glimpse of their futures, as defined by economic realities! In this interactive program, students participate in a simulation to determine how their values, career choices, living situations, wants and needs impact living within a monthly budget.
