FIGURE SKATING IN DETROIT
Detroit is on a quintessential comeback and it is a great time to launch an exciting new opportunity for girls ages 6 - 15. After two decades of accolades, Figure Skating in Harlem is expanding to the Motor City, bringing its first-class leadership and academic focused programs, wrapped around the discipline and physical rigors of skating.
Michigan Women' Foundation has signed on as strategic leadership and education partner, providing Figure Skating in Detroit a home in its downtown offices. Coursework in STEM, entrepreneurship, self-esteem and health, along with mentorship on and off the ice, will prepare the city's young women for success in all areas of life.
With a stellar Champions Council, co-chaired by Olympic Gold Metalist Meryl Davis, and community activists Denise Ilitch and Alissandra Aronow, Figure Skating in Detroit promises to deliver unprecedented opportunities ... and a great deal of fun ... to those interested in participating in the inaugural year.
Private sector support will be sought to ensure that every girl can build a limitless foundation on ice!
